XII
The
Hanged Man represents a particular moment in a situation or in your life, when
you are called to be temporarily still. Often this time is also refereed as
"the void". This particular moment is perceived at the end of a
relationship, or the end of an ongoing situation or routine, when one feels
lost and insecure.
We can experience this void in many
different situations, for example when we have to make an important decision.
When all of a sudden, our life stops giving us certainty in the routines we
have created for ourselves, uncertainty and insecurities come to surface
leaving us in an uncomfortable position, not knowing what to do next.
Many people don't really know how to react in
moments like this, so they search for a Tarot card reader to help them out with
answers and redirection, or try to find other ways. Others become discouraged
and depressed losing their personal power, but the wise man knows better.
In fact, there is no better time in life then
this one, because you find yourself in front of many choices and opportunities
as you can establish your new routines. However, it's necessary first that you
come to a point of acceptance with reality. When you don't know what to do as
you go on retirement, or lose a job, or after the loss of a person you love, or
even after your last child get married leaving you home alone and so forth, you
are left in the void, represented by The Hanged Man. You feel as if you were paralyzed and
don't know what to do next, nor how to proceed with your life.
Sometimes, depending on the event we
consciously chose to be in this position, as we clearly realize that it would
be best not to move, but leave everything suspended for a while. For example,
in the situation when several people come to you with an offer on something you
are selling, usually you want to take time to decide who to sell to. Or when
you prefer to wait before reacting to something that just happened, because you
know that that is the only way for you to gain something.
In any case, The Hanged Man during the void is
always offering infinite possibilities, as you take the time to contemplate
quietly by observing the events unfolding before you, rather than feeling lost
and depressed. This time is magic, as we are offered the possibility to choose
and decide our options to manifest greatness for ourselves and others. This
card refers also to sacrifice and improvement while waiting.
The number 12 on this
card becomes 3 (1+2), in numerology. It symbolizes the end of the first
part of the journey and the time before the second part, which has
something to do with the intuition and the unknown. If you found yourself
comfortable in your daily routine or usual ways, now with the change of
events in the void, you are invited by the universe to deal with The High
Priestess (2 - The High Priestess, or intuition).
